As Caden and Brighton's attraction grows despite the odds stacked against a happily ever after, they must work together to stop an Ancient fae from releasing the Queen, who wants nothing more than to see Caden become the evil Prince once feared by fae and mortals alike.
**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**
I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
“They did take a lot from you, Brighton. Your mother. Your contentment. But it also seems like you gained a lot. Not from them, but from yourself.”
I have been impatiently waiting for The King and it met every single expectation I had and more. While I can’t wait for the next in the series, I found myself content with the depth of story Jen gave us in just a short novella.
In the earlier books of the Wicked Trilogy, Brighton wasn’t a very strong character. But life hardened her and forced her to change. Throughout this series we have seen her blossom into a strong warrior. We learn, through Brighton’s experience, that you don’t have to take it sitting down. And I believe it changed Brighton for the better. I also love that she treats “the King” like just another person and doesn’t grovel at his feet.
“You made me feel shame and regret, and for all of that, I think you’re terrible.”
I was so happy with the amount of character development we got from Caden. In The Prince we get to meet fae royalty, a prince who is always careful of what he says and does. And now we finally get to see unfiltered Caden.
“I am a King. I must have a Queen, and you… You’re a distraction.”
This story drew me in and I was turning pages as fast as I could read. I cannot wait for the next one!!! A little spoiler — it does end on a cliffhanger. So for those of you who abhor cliffhangers…beware. But it’s so worth it, I promise!
“It means you are…you are my strength. My sun. You are my heart…Through you, complete and utter control of me is possible.”
Hey, I’m Bre! I have been pulling all nighters to read since I was in middle school, and nothing has changed since. My love of reading turned into a love for writing and I now have my dream job — being a writer. I also get to wear pajamas to work, which is a pretty nice perk.
I love Starbuck’s tea, organizing, the ocean, and buying too many purses and books. Is there such a thing as too many purses or books? I have two energetic toddlers at home so I mostly read to stay sane.
While I genuinely enjoy a variety of genres, I enjoy getting lost in the paranormal and fantasy world and nothing can melt my heart faster than a small town romance.
