A grouchy mountaineer, a Hollywood starlet
And miles of untamed wilderness...
What could possibly go wrong?Former Hollywood darling River Lane's acting career is tanking fast. Determined to start fresh behind the camera, she agrees to film a documentary about the picturesque small town of Moose Springs, Alaska. The assignment should have been easy, but the quirky locals want nothing to do with River. Well, too bad: River's going to make this film and prove herself, no matter what it takes.
Or what (literal) mountain she has to climb.
Easton Lockett may be a gentle giant, but he knows a thing or two about survival. If he can keep everyone in line, he should be able to get River and her crew up and down Mount Veil in one piece. Turns out that's a big if. The wildlife's wilder than usual, the camera crew's determined to wander off a cliff, and the gorgeous actress is fearless. Falling for River only makes Easton's job tougher, but there's only so long he can hold out against her brilliant smile. When bad weather strikes, putting everyone at risk, it'll take all of Easton's skill to get them back home safely...and convince River she should stay in his arms for good.
I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Enjoy the View is the third installment of Sarah Morgenthaler’s Moose Springs series, but it can be read as a standalone. I like to request a mix of all genres when picking my ARC’s, and when I stumbled upon this one, I immediately thought read-in-one-day-sweet-lightweight-romance, and that’s exactly what it was, plus a bit of action.
River is an actress-turned-producer and determined to make a name for herself behind the screen. Her conquest leads her deep into the Alaskan Mountains, where Easton Lockett stumbles over her and her crew more or less by accident and sort of gets roped into helping, much to his sister’s amusement. River’s a fierce, stubborn, and sassy redhead and spends the initial chapters mentally sparring with the locals, which I thoroughly enjoyed. River knows how to push Easton’s buttons from the get-go, so get ready for some fun on that end too. Easton’s your typical handsome, six-foot-something bearded mountain man. In the beginning, he’s unnerved by his attraction to River, but the more time they spend together, the more helpless he becomes to the undeniable chemistry they have. While the outside temperature continues to drop with every step they go further up the notorious local mountain; their flirtations rapidly gain in temperature. Add the danger of the wild and the thrill of the climb, and you have a sweet, a bit different, and action-packed love story.
There were some elements to the story that I didn’t deem necessary, like the animal girlfriend Easton picks up on the way, but it’s still a solid story apart from that. I simply believe the humor to that particular element won’t resonate with everyone. As expected, the ending was loaded with drama, but in the end, things work out as they should.
Hi! I’m Lisa. I’m twenty-three, a college student and a book lover. I spend every free minute, and most of my lectures, reading all kinds of books, which is how I ended up here. While I particularly enjoy books of the young and new adult variety, I also love historical fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, paranormal, all things romance, and one or the other classic as well. If I’m not reading, I’m either working, sleeping, binge-watching my newest obsession on Netflix, or on my way to Starbucks, to satisfy my slight caffeine addiction.
