Sydney Collins left the small Berkshires town of Rose Bend eight years ago, grieving her sister’s death—and heartbroken over her parents’ rejection. But now the rebel is back—newly divorced and pregnant—ready to face her fears and make a home for her child in the caring community she once knew. The last thing she needs is trouble. But trouble just set her body on fire with one hot, hot smile.
Widower and Rose Bend mayor Coltrane Dennison hasn’t smiled in ages. Until a chance run-in with Sydney Collins, who’s all grown-up and making him want what he knows he can’t have. Grief is his only connection to the wife and son he lost, and he won’t give it up. Not for Sydney, not for her child, not for his heart. But when Sydney’s ex threatens to upend everything she’s rebuilt in Rose Bend, Cole and Sydney may find that a little trouble will take them where they never expected to go
I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I am a huge fan of Naima Simone books, so when I got my copy of The Road to Rose Bend I was pumped, I dived into this book as soon as I could and OMG was it amazing. Sydney Collins is such as relatable character, she was compelling, funny, driven and someone you could empathize with, there was a few times where I forgot I was reading a book and that these were fictional characters, that how invested I was in this story. Everything that was going on with her pregnancy had me so invested, I will not lie there were a few times where I wanted to fight certain characters because of situations. Seeing her repair her relationship with her parents was just so heartwarming, so grounding and just made me so happy. In a lot of ways, this story felt like redemption for Sydney, her stepping into so many different uncharted territories was just so inspiring.
Okay so its time to talk about the romance !! omg that romance, Coltraine and Sydney were just everything, nothing felt rushed, I was rooting for them every step of the way. If I could describe their love story in three words they would be fun, heartwarming and sexy. The town of Rose Bend had me wanting to take a road trip lol, I fell in love with this small town and its many characters and can I just say I am thrilled that this is book one in a series because I need to know more! I need more stories. I’m proud to say that this book is one of the best books I have read this year and if you’re wondering if you should go pick it up, the answer is YES do so NOW!
