From #1 New York Times bestselling phenomenon Sylvia Day comes a hotly anticipated and passionate new love story.
Once, I would never have imagined myself here. But I’m settled now. In a place I love, in a home I renovated, spending time with new friends I adore, and working a job that fulfills me. I am reconciling the past and laying the groundwork for the future.
Then Garrett Frost moves in next door.
He’s obstinate and too bold, a raging force of nature that disrupts the careful order of my life. I recognize the ghosts that haunt him, the torment driving him. Garrett would be risky in any form, but wounded, he’s far more dangerous. I fear I’m too fragile for the storm raging inside him, too delicate to withstand the pain that buffets him. But he’s too determined…and too tempting.
And sometimes hope soars above even the iciest desolation.
Emotional and heartrending, Butterfly in Frost marks a brilliant return by global sensation Sylvia Day, the #1 international multimillion bestselling author of the Crossfire saga.
I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Let me start by saying that this book deals with highly sensitive topics, such as depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, among others, and therefore might not be a suitable read for everyone. Proceed with caution.
I have to admit that even though I stopped reading the Crossfire series at some point, I was immediately intrigued by the synopsis of Butterfly in Frost. My first thought was: reserved, withdrawn female character meets over the top, intense, bold male character? Yes, please.
You have no idea how wrong I was – there is so much more to this story.
“We’re on the same page.”
“I don’t think so. I think you’ve made a big leap from there.”
“I’m about to.”
With Butterfly in Frost, New York Times bestselling author Sylvia Day managed to spin an emotional, real and at the same time highly erotic tale, around characters that have an emotional depth to them, that will make you weak in the knees. It’s clear from the beginning that there’s more to both, Garrett and Teagan than meets the eye. Uncovering the events and the secrets that led each of them to this specific point in their lives, while watching their relationship develop, is what makes this story interesting.
While I had my suspicions about each of their pasts based on their behavior, things we learn throughout the book, and some of their interactions, I have to say it’s been a very long time since a plot-twist knocked me on my ass this hard. But in favor of keeping the secret and not ruining the reading fun for everyone else, I won’t go into further detail. You’ll have to read it for yourself.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a captivating, emotional, and steamy romance. It was everything I expected, but more.
Hi! I’m Lisa. I’m twenty-three, a college student and a book lover. I spend every free minute, and most of my lectures, reading all kinds of books, which is how I ended up here. While I particularly enjoy books of the young and new adult variety, I also love historical fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, paranormal, all things romance, and one or the other classic as well. If I’m not reading, I’m either working, sleeping, binge-watching my newest obsession on Netflix, or on my way to Starbucks, to satisfy my slight caffeine addiction.
