Nash Morgan was always known as the good Morgan brother, with a smile and a wink for everyone. But now, this chief of police is recovering from being shot and his Southern charm has been overshadowed by panic attacks and nightmares. He feels like a broody shell of the man he once was. Nash isn’t about to let anyone in his life know he’s struggling. But his new next-door neighbor, smart and sexy Lina, sees his shadows. As a rule, she’s not a fan of physical contact unless she initiates it, but for some reason Nash’s touch is different. He feels it too. The physical connection between them is incendiary, grounding him and making her wonder if exploring it is worth the risk.
Too bad Lina’s got secrets of her own, and if Nash finds out the real reason she’s in town, he’ll never forgive her. Besides, she doesn’t do relationships. Ever. A hot, short-term fling with a local cop? Absolutely. Sign her up. A relationship with a man who expects her to plant roots? No freaking way. Once she gets what she’s after, she has no intention of sticking around. But Knockemout has a way of getting under people’s skin. And once Nash decides to make Lina his, he’s not about to be dissuaded…even if it means facing the danger that nearly killed him.
I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
If you’re reading this, you probably read Things We Never Got Over and fell in love with the world and the characters.
I started this series last year and it quickly became one of my all time favorites. Of course, the second I heard we were getting Nash’s book I was THRILLED.
This book picks up after book one. It follows Nash, the charming, heroic chief. Except, when you see him now he is not the same. Nash is dealing with memory loss and nightmares, all due to the incident that happened in book one. It’s so heartbreaking to see this character go from fun and charming to just a guy trying to push through.
Lina is sexy, fun, and a distraction Nash absolutely needs. I really enjoyed her no nonsense attitude and her quick wit. She made me laugh and smile and rage throughout the series. However, she has some secrets in this book that could drive her and Nash apart.
This book has a lot of emotion in it. As expected, Lucy wrote this book in such a beautiful, heartfelt way. I absolutely loved it. However, nothing can truly top book one for me, but this book was still beyond incredible.
I’m so excited to see the series continue on and discover new characters!
Hello! My name is Brittany. I’m a newbie nurse by day and an avid reader 24/7. I am a proud romance junkie and will read just about every genre as long as there is some romance. I love to spend my time with my 9 cats—yes, you read that correctly—and posting on my bookstagram account (@_darkreadings if curious). I’m also a hardcore JLA fan.
