Naomi Westfield has the perfect fiancé: Nicholas Rose holds doors open for her, remembers her restaurant orders, and comes from the kind of upstanding society family any bride would love to be a part of. They never fight. They're preparing for their lavish wedding that's three months away. And she is miserably and utterly sick of him.
Naomi wants out, but there's a catch: whoever ends the engagement will have to foot the nonrefundable wedding bill. When Naomi discovers that Nicholas, too, has been feigning contentment, the two of them go head-to-head in a battle of pranks, sabotage, and all-out emotional warfare.
But with the countdown looming to the wedding that may or may not come to pass, Naomi finds her resolve slipping. Because now that they have nothing to lose, they're finally being themselves--and having fun with the last person they expect: each other.
When your nemesis also happens to be your fiancé, happily ever after becomes a lot more complicated in this wickedly funny, lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy debut.
I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
First off, I wish I had the words to describe just how heartfelt the second half of this book is. Truly. My heart was fluttering in my chest, watching these two characters fall in love with each other all over again.
You might be wondering why I didn’t give this book 5 stars. I couldn’t give it 5 stars because, for the first half of the book, I wasn’t sure how the author was going to save this relationship. Naomi didn’t think pleasant things about Nicholas or their relationship. Quite frankly, I was wondering why they were still in a relationship. Then, they started pranking each other, which helped lighten things up a bit…until they’d say something mean and ruin all of their progress.
Another reason I didn’t give this book 5 stars was because of Naomi. At times she could be really selfish, stubborn, and dramatic. I’m not saying Nicholas was a saint the whole book because he definitely wasn’t. However, I did warm up to Naomi once the second half of the book started. I loved seeing her vulnerable, soft side. I was rooting for her and Nicholas to make it work!
The second half of this book completely stole my heart. Naomi finally started to let her guard down, and she began to notice things about Nicholas she had forgotten and took for granted. Watching them reconnect was sweet. I was proud of them! They’d come so far; both of them were finally being vulnerable and honest.
I can’t wait to see what Sarah Hogle writes next! This book truly stole my heart. I can’t wait to reread it.
