Oh my goodness. This book was so freaking cute. I shouldn’t be surprised since Miranda Kenneally wrote it. I’ll admit, I was a bit nervous about how this story would be told. I thought we would only get to see the characters on one specific day each year, but that isn’t the case. Yes, the story revolves around the big class field trip each year of high school, but we also get to see certain events that led up to the field trip. 

Four Days of You and Me was a fun, light read. Lulu is her school’s resident “hippie” because she cares about the environment. Meanwhile, Alex is a popular baseball player who works at his family’s restaurant whenever he’s not at practice. Lulu dreams of writing and publishing graphic novels, and Alex dreams of anything but running his family’s business. These two clash heads when we first meet them, but soon they start an on again off again romance. 

There are a few things I want to highlight. First, I really like how Kenneally handled the character arcs of Lulu and Alex. You get to see them make mistakes, learn from them, make some new mistakes, and then grow from those. It felt realistic and organic. Another thing Kenneally did well was writing her side characters. I loved all of the side characters in this book. I loved how supportive and loyal Lulu’s friends were! Lastly, I’m glad Kenneally had Alex and Lulu have their own specific dreams and goals. It was heartwarming to see them support each other and push each other in the direction of their dreams. 

My biggest complaint would be that it took me a little while to get used to the format of the story. We would jump from one time period to another. However, once you get used to that, the story flows pretty well! 

Overall, this is a good book if you’re looking for a light, fun YA contemporary book. It’s full of romance, teen drama, friendship, and growth.
