A woman who’s lost everything.
Taylor is looking for peace and quiet away from the memories of all she’s lost. A small mountain town where no one knows her seems like the perfect escape.
A man battling the ghosts of his past.
Walker loves his life just the way it is. His town, his family, his brothers in blue. Everything simple and easy—until a chance encounter changes it all.
When Taylor’s solitude is interrupted by the rugged cop, they find that the very thing they were avoiding might be just what they both need. As their iron wills clash and passion flares…a killer lurks.
And you never know who might be caught in the crosshairs.
I received this book for free from Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
This was my first book by Catherine Cowles but it definitely won’t be the last. This story was extremely well written. It had angst, heartbreak, drama, and suspense. I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough.
Taylor had lost everything. Tired of being treated like a piece of china, she decided to move to a small town in search of something new. But instead of starting a new life, she was living a shell of her life, scared to let anyone in lest she get hurt again. But Walker and his family are determined to push their way into her life and make her feel again.
“Pushing people away doesn’t mean it won’t hurt if you lose them, it just means you’ll be lonely until they’re gone.”
Walker is definitely one of my favorite heroes. I might even have to add him to my book boyfriend shelf! He was a broody alpha who set his eyes on Taylor, not caring that she was broken.
“I’m broken, Walker.”
“Well, then all your beautifully broken pieces are mine.”
Such a beautiful story! But it’s definitely not all rainbows and butterflies. You get some drama and angst along with this beautifully broken story.
“And you’re mine.”
Hey, I’m Bre! I have been pulling all nighters to read since I was in middle school, and nothing has changed since. My love of reading turned into a love for writing and I now have my dream job — being a writer. I also get to wear pajamas to work, which is a pretty nice perk.
I love Starbuck’s tea, organizing, the ocean, and buying too many purses and books. Is there such a thing as too many purses or books? I have two energetic toddlers at home so I mostly read to stay sane.
While I genuinely enjoy a variety of genres, I enjoy getting lost in the paranormal and fantasy world and nothing can melt my heart faster than a small town romance.
