Violet Sterling has spent the last seven years in exile, longing to return to Burleigh House. One of the six great houses of England, Burleigh’s magic always kept the countryside well. And as a child, this magic kept Violet happy, draping her in flowers while she slept, fashioning secret hiding places for her, and lighting fires on the coldest nights to keep her warm.
Everything shattered, though, when her father committed high treason trying to free Burleigh from the king’s oppressive control. He was killed, and Vi was forced into hiding.
When she’s given a chance to go back, she discovers Burleigh has run wild with grief. Vines and briars are crumbling the walls. Magic that once enriched the surrounding countryside has turned dark and deadly, twisting lush blooms into thorns, poisoning livestock and destroying crops. Burleigh’s very soul is crying out in pain.
Vi would do anything to help, and soon she finds herself walking the same deadly path as her father all those years before. Vi must decide how far she’s willing to go to save her house—before her house destroys everything she’s ever known.

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
The STUNNING cover of A Treason of Thorns makes this novel stand out among the crowd and instantly caught my eye. Although the cover is to die for— the story behind the cover is more enchanting than I thought possible.
In this daring book about unconditional love, Laura E. Weymouth takes us on an adventure that is unique and magical. I faced a quest of life or death, hard decisions that I could relate to and an absolute enchanting experience I have never read before. Her brilliant concept of a “Great House” took me by surprise and delighted me beyond expectations.
Who wouldn’t want a House with feelings that dotted on you with every turn? I would adore a House that sprouted flowers at my feet when I got sad and vines at my fingertips when I was angry. Burleigh House gave me major puppy vibes half the time, and Whomping Willow vibes the other!!
The complexity of the idea and the well played out story shows the future of success Laura is sure to find in this beautiful novel. I am begging for more flowers, vines, blood and mortar as A Treason of Thorns came to an end.
As an avid book reader, I am always finding time to catch a book whether it be on my iPhone or Kindle or a nice classic paper back! My little guy whose 3 keeps me busy and on my toes as well as my husband– so finding such time can be hard but also important to keep my sanity. My favorite reads are ones that let me escape and dive into a magical alternate reality or world as well as books full of mystery and twists and turns. Bonus points if it involves both!! Favorite authors at the moment: Anything Leigh Bardugo, loved the conclusion of the Caraval series by Stephanie Garber and I am always down for some Holly Black- she is the reason I love to read after finding Tithe in my B&N in the 7th grade.
