Seriously. Seriously! This book is a chart topper. No doubt in my mind.
I usually have a hard time getting into books with so many perspectives, but this books runs with titles like The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon and Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. It has the most fantastic world building and character development. Aveyard really has created a Lord of the Rings for today, from her quirky ensemble cast, to the impending doom that is What Waits beyond in the realm of Asunder. She has brought the epic scale of fantasy back. But this time it’s back with diversity! (So much better!)
Blade Breaker picks up right where Realm Breaker left off and I appreciate that so much. Victoria laid so much ground work in book one that Blade Breaker was just a wild ride, cover to cover. Each character is more their own now and you can really see the dynamics fleshing out between them and where each of their strengths lie. I love the workings of all of them, especially Dom and Sorasa. They are *chef’s kiss*
On the other side, we have Erida. We didn’t see a whole whack of her in book one, but she is back baby, and she is a massive BADASS QUEEN! Seriously, I would die for this woman. She is a remarkably constructed character and by far one of my favourite perspectives to read!
I cannot wait to see where book three takes us, because so far all I can say is holy shit my mind is blown. Along with throwing the book across the couch upon finishing it, and audibly shouting. I simply cannot wait. Victoria, if you stumble across this review… you’ve ruined me (in the best possible way) Book 3 please?
