Fans of Christina Lauren and Colleen Hoover will love this sexy and emotional fourth book in the New York Times bestselling Dirty Deeds series.
After his wife died two years ago, Nathan Bell has neglected his responsibility to his baby daughter, letting his parents raise her while he loses himself in his work. But when his parents give him an ultimatum, Nate needs new child care... fast.
Jenna Savage can see the pain Nate is in and how much he desperately wants to connect with his daughter. It's not a problem at all for the single mom to watch his little girl along with her own two children. Soon, Jenna can't help but fall in love with Nate and the family they seem to be building together, but can the career-driven, guilt-ridden man look beyond his heartbreak and learn to love again?
I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
A part of me would have liked to have more of a conflict, but I really can’t complain much over here. I usually don’t like love stories in which the hero lost his wife /gf to death and finds love again or vice versa (it’s just not my trope). But in this story, the characters were so well done and all their backstory just gave them realism. Plus, the dynamic and love between them were so so sweet and palpable, I completely believed it and fell for them both.
Nathan was SUCH A GOOD HERO. He was sooo sweet, such a hard worker, and pretty damn hot. I also really loved for some reason the fact that he had glasses? I haven’t read lots of guys that use them and I found it extremely hot. Lol
And I loved the kindness and maturity of Jenna’s character, I really don’t have one single complain at all about how she acted or thought at any moment, she was awesome (I’m not counting how out of the blue and kinda unrealistic was for someone to just offer and accept —Nathan —a complete stranger as a babysitter LOL but that wasn’t even an issue and I moved past that quite quickly, I took it as just the catalyst for the story to unfold and nothing to fixate on in regards to her character).
Now my favorite part —and it might come off as a bit of a surprise —were the kids. And especially the dynamics and relationships they brought into the story.
Marley was the cutest and sweetest character we could have asked for, and seeing her developing that relationship with her father, after him having so many troubles trying to establish one, was simply beautiful.
And the twins —while at times their dialogue was a bit weird or just too much —were also pretty fun and sweet. Seeing Nathan grow to care SO MUCH and to that extent about them was one of the coolest experiences in my bookish life. For real.
I also loved their dynamic as siblings and how bit by bit they formed the same bond with Marley.
Oh and Jenna can totally take the award of the best and coolest mom in a book, btw. Her relationship with the three kids was unique with each and adorable with all of them. And the way she ALWAYS put them first was natural and absolutely heart-warming.
Nathan and Jenna worked so well together, they had such a fun and good relationship, we really see them become the best of friends first and form a friendship and a GREAT team. Their dynamic was amazing and the chemistry JUST ON POINT. They made each other better and they helped each other improve and I loved that.
Seeing all of them come together and form a family even long before they actually become one, was SO heartwarming and absolutely fulfilling and satisfying. I think even more than a romance story (though it was one and a great one) this is more than anything a story about a family. And I absolutely loved it.
Asis is a Mexican girl whose life changed at the age of six when her father read the first chapter of Harry Potter to her. Ever since that night, the book world sucked her in and she’s never been seen amongst mortals again.
