I'm Madison.
I spent the last seventeen years in a trailer with my mom as she rolled from one addiction to the next. All I wanted was to survive high school and get out of this place. Finding out I had a long lost twin sister on the other side of the country seemed like something out of a movie.Too bad I didn't realize it was a horror movie.
Now I'm Madelaine.
We were only supposed to switch lives for a summer. But then the unthinkable happened and now I have the chance to be my twin for the rest of my life. I get the fancy house, the rich father, and the elite school. But all of those things come with a price I don't think I can afford.
Maybe taking over my dead twin sister's life isn't as easy as I thought it would be.
Mad World is the first book in a new series by Hannah McBride . It contains dark themes (including bullying, drugs, and mentions of past/implied assault) that may be triggering for some readers.
I received this book for free from Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
This is a NEW series by Hannah McBride, and it is amazing, and it is going to be available for purchase and on Kindle Unlimited on October 15, 2021.
WOW OH WOW.
I have some FEELINGS about this book.
I just have to find the words.
There is SO much to unpack in this novel.
First, it is a trilogy. But, Hannah is a badass writer lady who can pump out killer books at a break neck speed, so do not fear.
I have some insider info, that the trilogy will be complete and available to the public by the end of summer 2022.
So do not fear beginning a new series.
BESIDES, it’s so so so worth it.
For real though, Hannah McBride out did herself with Mad World.

There is so much I want to say and so little that I can say. This book was well done, but I would literally unravel the entire plot if I talked about all the WHOA, and SWOON, and WTF moments that I had while reading!!
This book is twisty and shocking and SUSPENSEFUL which I was not expecting!
I knew this was going to be a bully romance (which okay, I love)… but I was not excepting a suspense novel as well. I was on the edge of my seat while reading. And true to form, Hannah’s writing had me bitting my nails and fighting a stress headache. Because she just likes to torture her readers right up until the very last possible moment.
It was sexy, which I knew it was going to be.
The banter between all the characters was so so well done. But I think Bex’s dialogue was some of my favorite. She was a great side character.
The characters had depth and the plot was *chefs kiss*
I didn’t know how invested I would be in Madison and Ryan. But that was another relationship I that really took me by surprise, like 100+ times.
They were both incredibly complex characters and I really bought into their “relationship”.
Ryan might be an alpha-hole, but Maddie definitely punches first and apologizes later.
Those last few chapters got me… they will freaking get you too, so watch out!
I HAVE NOT STOPPED THINKING ABOUT THE LAST FIVE CHAPTERS IN THREE DAYS PEOPLE.
It has stuck with me like oatmeal left to dry on a ceramic bowl.
Poor Hannah has endured far far too many messages from me begging for more information. But the woman is like a vault.
So all I can leave you with is this warning:
I don’t know what you need to do to prepare yourself for this ending, but maybe light some incense or have a nice glass of wine, take an anti-anxiety pill. You do you, but I can guarantee you that you will need something to take that edge off.
You literally won’t ever see it coming and then… AND THEN IT JUST FUCKING ENDS!
I can not even fathom where this trilogy is going to go but I can’t wait for Hannah to take me along for the ride.
I love love loved it.
5 stars.
Emily is a coffee loving, cat snuggling, hairstylist and book-a-holic.
Having always been a voracious reader and devouring books at a breakneck speed, joining the bookish and blogging community seemed like a natural next step. She loves giving recommendations to friends and family and then very gently (and not forcefully at all) asking for their opinions after they complete each chapter.
Her reviews tend to be goofy, a little sweary, on the more impassioned side and maybe sometimes a little self deprecating.
Emily typically enjoys reading almost every genre, including (but not limited to) monster romance, literary fiction, rom-com, contemporary, LGBTQ+, low/urban fantasy, paranormal, dystopian, sci-fi, gothic romance or basically any book that will make her cry.
