When Ella is mysteriously attacked on her way home from a party, her entire life changes as she finds herself at the center of an attempted murder investigation.

Ella tries to move on, but her attacker isn't done yet. He shows himself in the form of horrifying signs and symbols: a clown mask strewn on her bed, a dead bird in her backpack, a shadow moving past her window in the night. And as the weeks pass, it turns out that Ella isn't the only one being tormented.

With the help of an old flame, Jensen Carver, and her friends and family, Ella tries to attain some sense of normalcy, but she can't seem to shake the feeling that there's a dark pattern hidden in the killer's every move. Suddenly, even those in her innermost circle seem suspicious. In her seemingly safe West Virginia town, Ella starts to wonder who she can trust

I received this book for free from Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Book CW: Suicide, Bullying, and a very scary clown.

So, I absolutely adored this book.

The pacing was great. The writing was on point. I laughed a lot. I got super scared. I fell hard for a certain someone… The characters were absolutely fantastic, endearing and felt like people I’d totally want to meet or to be. Ella was an amazing lead, I loved being inside her head. And Jensen is for sure one of my favorite non-paranormal book boyfriends ever… you simply have to meet him, seriously.

This is a story with lots of different important topics like love, friendship, bullying, and forgiveness, all bundled up in a suspenseful plot with twists that you do not see coming —at least I didn’t. At all. (Then again, I am super easy with plot-twists. But that was my experience here, okay?)

The suspense and the mystery were truly fantastic, and there were such creepy scary moments I do not recommend reading alone in the darkness of your room at 2 am… I know, my mistake.

The love story is a wonderful second-chance romance of two teenagers that used to be best friends… that’s basically my favorite plot-line in any genre I can find LOL And this particular one was super real, funny, and surprisingly very hot.

I read it several times already and I wasn’t able to put it down in any of them, nor did I want to. This goes straight to my favorites shelf and will stay there for the rest of the times.

Asis

Asis is a Mexican girl whose life changed at the age of six when her father read her the first chapter of Harry Potter. Ever since that night, the book world sucked her in and she’s never been seen amongst mortals again.

I am a professional Translator-Interpreter, currently working as an ESL teacher at an elementary school. I have a passion for languages and an imagination that works 24/7. I am a romantic at heart, and my favorite genre is fantasy.
I’m incredibly obsessive towards anything I like, I can’t just like something, I always end up obsessed with it.

I love Scotland, musical theatre, beautiful places and I love stories in all formats.
Stories are a refuge for me and they’ve always been, they are also the one thing that makes me feel, that makes me interact and truly live. Stories can change everything.

I’m not the most social person but when it comes to fangirling… whenever, wherever… I’m your girl. Hit me up!
