Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux knows she’s the best—but she doesn’t know if she’s good enough for this job. Hired by the dangerously beautiful Archangel Raphael, a being so lethal that no mortal wants his attention, only one thing is clear—failure is not an option…even if the task is impossible.
Because this time, it’s not a wayward vamp she has to track. It’s an archangel gone bad.
The job will put Elena in the midst of a killing spree like no other…and pull her to the razor’s edge of passion. Even if the hunt doesn’t destroy her, succumbing to Raphael’s seductive touch just may. For when archangels play, mortals break…
[Insert incredibly sexy Archangel here]
This was my first book by Nalini Singh and SERIOUSLY IT WILL NOT BE MY LAST!!!!!!
Cue Raphael… Anytime now…
Honestly, I read this book in basically a day. (No shame)
The plot was compelling and full of action. And Oh… So so sexy!
Elena is a fun, witty character with a great career and amazing friends. While we get a peek into her backstory, we still don’t have it all and I really enjoy the enigma that is her.
Raphael is a cold, distant, and incredibly sexy(can’t forget how sexy) Archangel with a mysterious side.
The story takes place in NYC, though I myself have never been there Nalini paints a picture so vivid I might as well be standing right there soaking in all of the surroundings.
Though this book was short, it wasn’t short on plot twists and surprises. I love the dynamic that has been created between Elena and Raphael and I can’t wait to see where it goes.
Illium may only be a side character in this book, but I’m praying to the Archangel’s he gets his own book soon! He’s an intriguing character with behaviour that’s almost human.
I don’t want to give too much away, but if you love Urban Fantasy and Romance and sexual tension. This book is THE book.
Needless to say I’ll be jumping into the second book ASAP and not looking up until it’s finished.
Hi there!
I’m Diane, I suffer from wanderlust and am from Toronto, Ontario.
Since I was a wee bairn I was obsessed with reading and the fantastical worlds books would sweep my away in. Flash forward 28 years, I can now be seen running through the trees in hopes of being carried to a world far far away, but mostly just tripping over tree roots.
When I’m not reading or watching What We Do In The Shadows on repeat, I can be found tracing my lineage to the ancient Vikings and Scots. Oh! And making organic dog treats for my high-maintenance pets.
