Divided by their order. United by their vengeance.
Iraya has spent her life in a cell, but every day brings her closer to freedom - and vengeance.
Jazmyne is the Queen’s daughter, but unlike her sister before her, she has no intention of dying to strengthen her mother’s power.
Sworn enemies, these two witches enter a precarious alliance to take down a mutual threat. But power is intoxicating, revenge is a bloody pursuit, and nothing is certain - except the lengths they will go to win this game.
This Jamaican-inspired fantasy debut about two enemy witches who must enter into a deadly alliance to take down a common enemy has the twisted cat-and-mouse of Killing Eve with the richly imagined fantasy world of Furyborn and Ember in the Ashes.
I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
TRUST NO WITCH.
“Unlike storms, trouble doesn’t give signs like rain, so we must always be ready for it.”
Witches Steeped in Gold is a Jamaican based fantasy novel which follows two female witches, Ira and Jazmyne, who form an alliance in the name of revenge and power.
“The quest for power is like a singular winding track. One that’s as thin as a blade’s cut, and as unforgiving as the sheer drops on either of its sides.”
It’s a great start to what I know will be a great series. I cannot wait to watch it take the world.
This masterpiece is filled with lies, betrayal, enemy castes and two female characters that are strong and determined.
I loved the dual POV the book had. It makes the reader experience two sides of the same coin and you can’t help but be wary of every word you read. Because nothing is like it seems. And that’s what makes this book such a ride. There’s plot twists at every turn of the pages.
Ira and Jazmyne are two amazing characters. They are flawed and they make mistakes. They are determined to get what they want. And they will stop at nothing until they get it. and I’m a sucker for them fierce and badass females.
Something that I enjoyed a lot is that everyone in this book seems to have a hidden agenda and you find yourself unable to trust a single soul and questioning every little theory you make. It draws such a fine line between hero and villain and you feel constantly on the edge because you have no idea who is who.
And don’t get me started on the magic system. The uniqueness of it, the attention to details and the way it works just adds to make this book outstanding.
Overall it was a beautiful book, I found myself holding my breath a few times and flying through the pages because I needed more. Until it got to the end. Now I just need to wait for the sequel, because that ending was perfect.
Special thanks to the author for replying to my messages when I felt like I needed someone to talk to :D.
Hello there. I am Faiza and also a night owl. If you text me at 3am I’ll reply because I’ll probaby be reading. I am also a certified introvert.
I love animals. If I did not live in an apartment, I’d have all kinds of pets. But that’s not the case, so I have a Parrot, his name is Thor.
I love all kinds of fiction books, but High Fantasy and Dark Romance are my turf. I can’t wait to share with y’all my thoughts and love for books.
